Dublin Eye Associates and Vidalia Eye Associates are totally committed to quality eye care for the patient, delivered with absolute honesty and integrity. Too many eye practices (and other types of medical specialties as well) are bottom-line oriented and try to book as much costly care, such as surgery, as possible. We ALWAYS ask any cataract patient, for example, if they are having trouble seeing. The simple presence of a cataract does not necessarily mean that surgery is indicated, or that surgery cannot be postponed. If a patient is having no trouble functioning with their level of vision, no surgery is indicated, all other factors being equal. All our doctors see and evaluate far more patients with cataract than they put on the surgery schedule. The same goes for any other eye condition. We are in business to serve our patients and not to make money, and we try to live this philosophy day after day. The Lord provides the needed income and He always keeps our surgery schedule full, so we have sufficient confidence in His provision that we do not need to push patients into unnecessary surgery. We will always present the patient with the facts and options, and we will make recommendations if asked. As often as not, we recommend waiting, especially when there is no disabling symptom to make surgery a necessity.
